Digital Collage
My collage aims to express a sense of fantasy. I gathered some images from the internet and completed this collage using Procreate. The girl in the image wanders freely among the ocean, mountains, and clouds, evoking a sense of freedom and dreaminess. Here, the girl seems to transcend the limitations of her physical body and forget about time (represented by a combination of a clock and glacier, resembling a sundial, symbolizing time) and modern society (the three noses forming a Wi-Fi signal pattern, symbolizing the distractions brought by information and the internet). The water droplets near the girl’s hair symbolize that she is breathing like a fish, and this also represents the sweat of effort and a hint of sadness in her emotions. The girl’s eyes, ears, and nose are scattered across the canvas, her senses deconstructed and extended, helping her immerse herself more deeply in this world.
Collage is a form of art that requires both creativity and patience. For artists, collage may allow for more experimental creation. In terms of art education, through collage-making, children can learn a unique creative process—deconstructing and reconstructing. Collage also introduces children to a broader range of materials to work with.
