Looking Back
In the classroom of New Media and New Forms, I tried a variety of new media, exploring different media each week. Many of the media I explored during this semester were ones I experimented with for the first time, including Digital Collage, Scanography, Stop Motion Animation, Creative Coding (Generative Art), and 3D Design and 3D Fabrication. This course encouraged me to gradually step out of my comfort zone and experiment with those new technologies which had been out there for several years. These first attempts sparked my interest in embracing the emerging technologies. Not only have I begun to master some techniques gradually, but I’ve also actively want to learn more about the newest knowledge and art creations of technology and art.
At the beginning of the semester I wrote down my Personal Learning Objectives for this class:
· I hope to deepen my understanding of various technologies in this class and select a few that spark my interest for further exploration, enabling me to create my own unique artwork.
· Reflect on the relationship between technology, humans, and art, considering both current trends and future possibilities.
· Connect with more peers, collaborate, and grow together through shared experiences and projects.
· Discover and learn from artists, especially those who integrate technology into their work, drawing inspiration from their practices.
I think I have achieved most of my learning objectives in this semester. Of course, these objectives are not just for this course but are my lifelong learning objectives. I will continue to use the new media and technologies I have learned in this course—and explore even more—with an open mind in the future, and integrate them to create more artistic works.
